I am so excited that I got 3 sponsors for A Raisin in the Sun!! I don't even think they understand how much their contribution really helps us! We will make them proud! My actors are buckling down and we will start rehearsing about 4-5 days a week starting in February. The set is slowly coming together....I am getting excited!! I can't wait for the community to see how hard this cast has been working! I am so proud of them! Ok, enough with the exclamations already! Lol.
It's getting closer to showtime! So you know what that means....CRUNCH TIME!! We are now in the process of getting our set painted and acquiring all of our props and costumes. The most time consuming thing is all the painting of the walls! But, I just put on a little Sondheim and I just breeze right through it! Although when it's cold it's a little hard to concentrate because I have to paint outside on the back porch because I don't have my own rehearsal/work space yet. But I know I will be blessed with one this year! I can just feel it!
It is 2013! I feel like last year just flew right by! I had a busy year last year. I put up 3 shows back to back, got a kidney transplant and then started rehearsals for A Raisin in the Sun. And now I'm going into 2013 even stronger mentally, physically, spiritually and creatively! I am ready for all of the challenges of 2013! This year's theme is Risks and Rewards! The greater the risk, the greater the reward! I will be working so that I can have a full season scheduled for the rest of this year. It's hard when you are a theatre company that is not a non profit. People don't realize that ALL the money I make goes right back into another show so I can keep giving the community the entertainment I know they want. Not to mention, I am still looking to hopefully rent a studio space this year when I can afford it so I just have to go the extra mile as much as I can. I can't over due it because I don't want to risk getting sick and something happening to my new kidney but the more support and volunteers I get, the easier it is for me to focus on what I need to do!
