We had a decent turn out this weekend for the A Raisin in the Sun auditions but we are still looking for more characters! I will admit I am a little worried but I am thankful that I found the cast members that I did find! There really is some great talent here in Jacksonville and I stumbled across some Saturday and Sunday!
On another note, my wonderful friends and family have been putting together fundraisers for me to help me with my medical bills! I got interviewed by Kianga Kelley of WCTI Channel 12 news this past weekend! Here is the link to the interview. http://www.wcti12.com/news/Craven-county-parties-for-a-purpose/-/13530444/17075876/-/hlxo7u/-/index.html

I have some exciting news....but I can't share it quite yet! It is something that I am truly grateful for and blessed to have but it is going to be kept under wraps for a little while. Don't worry! All will be revealed soon! My business is starting to get it's name out there and more people are starting to recognize us so I am excited about that. My health is going good. I feel better everyday. Things are just lining up...
Well we are exactly one week out until our auditions for A Raisin in the Sun! I am very excited about directing this production. Not only will it be challenging for the actors but also for me. I've always loved a challenged! I hope I get a great turnout at the auditions. I am sure we will find the talent that I know is here in Jacksonville. I guess the hardest part is getting the word out there that we are having auditions. Or even that my company exists. It's getting better because every week I either get a couple phone calls or I get some contact entry forms so that always makes me happy. I just want the community to experience theatre how I experience it. I want to introduce some new more contemporary shows as well as some of the classics just like A Raisin in the Sun. My next step after raising enough money is to secure a rehearsal space of some kind. It doesn't have to be huge. Just somewhere I can rehearse and build sets and start holding musical theatre classes. I've been looking around but the rent around here for some of these buildings is way too high and we just started this business. It would be great if we could get some space donated but we will continue to raise money and pray that something comes through soon. In the meantime, I am SO grateful that the Jacksonville City Parks and Recreations provides a space for me to rehearse. If they didn't, I don't know what we would do! I'm meeting with my production team tomorrow so we can discuss what we need to do and acquiring sponsorships and selling ads etc.
Well folks, I am a little more than halfway done with my recovery so you know what that means....IT'S TIME TO PUT ON A SHOW! I finally feel well enough to start preparing for a show that I have always wanted to direct which is A Raisin in the Sun. I don't think that it has ever been done here in Jacksonville before and you know Debbie's Angels likes to be different! I also figured that it would be a perfect show to do for Black History Month. I am excited about the auditions and I'm sure I will find the talent that is hiding here in Jacksonville, NC!!
