Frequently Asked Questions

What do you guys do?

Oddly enough, we get this question all the time. We offer arts education such as acting, dance, voice and piano. We offer pre-college training and audition prep for teens who are pursuing a career in theatre.  We offer performance opportunities to everyone in Onslow County and beyond.

Do you have to be a part of the company to audition for the shows?

Absolutely not!  Our auditions are open to the public.

Do I have to have experience to be in one of your shows?

Nope!  We have people from all backgrounds that participate. We have professionals, non professionals, beginners and everyone in between.

Is there a fee to be in your shows?

Yes. If you are cast in a show with us there is usually a small fee.  We charge this fee to help us with certain costume pieces, wigs, set pieces, paint, props, etc.  However, the more shows we do, the more pieces we acquire, the more we can recycle things for various shows which we do already.  Our aim is to be fee free!

Where do you rehearse?

We rehearse at our studio at 742 Court Street in downtown Jacksonville.  We also hold our classes here too.

Where do you perform your shows?

We use various venues throughout Jacksonville.  For our smaller shows we use Barley Wine Cafe and our biggest shows we use Southwest High School Auditorium and Jacksonville High School Auditorium.

So you don't have your own theater?

Not yet!  That is our goal for 2019 though! We want to be in our very own black box theatre where we can offer more performance opportunities and have a venue we can call home. We'll also be able to rent it out to the community for special events!

Is the fee for the classes weekly or a one time fee?

Our class fee is a one time fee.  When you pay your registration fee, that is deducted from the class fee and the balance is due on the first day of class.

Why are your prices so low for class?

Ok.  We understand where we are.  In NYC, we were able to charge $450 per person and have a wait list.  We can't do that here.  We still want people to have access to our classes and not be worried about how to pay for it.  We aren't trying to price gauge our patrons!  We want you to continue to take class with us!

Is there a show at the end of the 8 week session?

We do what we call a showcase.  It's not always a full out show.  We feel like you are paying us to take a class. To learn technique and skills.  We focus on theatre and it's history and how to grow as performers.  That doesn't always mean a big fancy show with costumes and makeup and lights.  So we choose songs and scenes and monologues from various shows and put it in a "showcase" where you really get to see how much the students have learned and how they learned how to develop a character.  That is what acting is about.

How is your summer camp different than any other camps?

Well for one, we are 1 of 2 theatre arts camps that we know of in this area.  The way we are different is our campers have daily arts workshops with professionals in the arts industry from playwrighting, soap making, stage combat, film, art, sign language and more.  In addition to those workshops, campers work on a show to perform at the end of camp.

How often do you have shows?

Last year we had about 11 shows that we either produced or were involved in! That's a lot for this area.  For kids and teens, our Broadway Jr. show in the fall is the biggest performance opportunity we have.  We are honored to perform for all of the 5th graders of Onslow County in addition to the public performances with our Broadway Jr. show.  We also have about 5 adult shows a year.

How much are tickets to your shows?

Ticket prices vary per show.  Our adult show tickets range from $10-$15.  Student prices range from $5-$8.  Ticket prices are subject to change.

Do you offer any discounts?

We offer a sibling discount for our classes and camp.  We also offer a group discount for tickets for shows if you are purchasing as a group of 10 people or more.  If you are purchasing as a group, contact us at debbiesangelsproductions@gmail.com.

Is there a way I can volunteer or donate?

Absolutely!  We are always looking for people to help us with shows, building sets, painting, helping with costumes and makeup, putting out flyers, fundraising and more!   If you want to volunteer or donate, just fill out our volunteer form under the Contact Us form on this website.

We hope we answered your questions. If you have any more just shoot us an email or text or give us a call!
